Burn Schools   or   "Burn to Learn 's"

Occasionally, we get to fight fires in controlled conditions.  These are done when a structure comes available to the department that meets safety and

environmental criteria, and the weather conditions are right.  This is one of the few opportunities that a new firefighter gets to experience the

heat and the smoke of a structure fire.  We call these, Burns to Learn.

Interior evolutions

With fire burning in one of the rooms, the teams must get together to ventilate, and then make a 2 hose attack.  A Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) is standing by, just in case.

Once the structure gets to burning, we have to keep an eye out for any potential dangers.  FF Jesse Schonau-Taylor takes a walk around.
